Park Overview
Established in 1983, this marine park spans 281.5 sq km and includes 15 islands. The park protects fragile coral reefs, mangrove forests, and marine biodiversity. It's located 29 km from Port Blair near Wandoor Beach.
Main Attractions
1. Snorkeling at Jolly Buoy Island
Jolly Buoy is the park's showcase island with pristine corals and clear waters. Snorkeling here reveals colorful coral gardens, clownfish, angel fish, and sometimes turtles. The island has limited daily visitors to protect the ecosystem.
2. Red Skin Island
Alternative to Jolly Buoy when it's closed (they rotate to allow coral recovery). Equally beautiful with vibrant marine life.
3. Mangrove Walkways
Boardwalks through mangrove forests showcasing different mangrove species and their ecological importance.
4. Interpretation Center
Educational displays about marine conservation, coral biology, and local ecosystems.
